Speaking English is a passport for whoever wants to work in a restaurant, hotel, or in the tourist industry in general, even just for a normal job that doesn't necessarily need English. That's why there are so many people studying English now.
As I said in my other post about my work place, working in hospitality is not as easy as it looks, especially in Viet Nam, because it not only needs skill but it needs you to speak at least English because most customers who come to my restaurant are foreigners. I feel annoyed sometimes with my clients when they ask my colleagues, "Can I speak with someone can speak English to take my orders?" I have to explain so many times about this situation, that they just have to be patient but some of them get really angry.
Another problem is that Vietnamese food is served whenever it's ready and we don't serve it in the same formal way as western food. It's the best way to enjoy the food, hot and fresh. But lots of people don’t understand and they try to make a big deal about it, to such an extent that they ask for discount or free meals even though the staff have explained.

I am now in Koi Tao. I arrived this morning and have spent the day swimming in turquoise waters with white sand. Its just like pictures in a travel broshure. Its really laid back, reminds me of my days in Santa Cruz. I am loving it!! I did rent another motorbike....but I learned my lesson. I plan on going back to Koi Sumui on Saturday because UB40 and the Wailers are playing on the beach should be alot of fun. I met a cool Thai guy my first night in Sumoi. He reminds me of some of my dreadie guy friends from Santa Cruz, just living the easy beach life swinging in a hammock and listening to good music. This is a great change from where I was and I am happy about it. I took a walk and found some darling bungalows right on the cliffs totally secluded, made out of bamboo. You have to hike up a beautiful trail lined with orchids, banana, and coconut trees. They rent for about $12 a night. I think I will make this a regular long term retreat after my stay with the elephants. Its hard to believe that places like this exsist. I always see pictures but havent experienced. Its like there is no time, you just drift from one thing to the next. No plans, no expectations, and there is always a suprise around the corner. And of course there is the lovely seductive ocean calling you in, wrapping around you, cleansing, healing, and perfectly warm. I wish my friends could climb inside me and see for themselves, wouldnt that be cool?? By the way I havent mentioned the food...do I need too? You who love Thai...well you know. I'll write more another time.

"CHILE - A Hidden Treasure" (SOFTCOVER) takes you on a scenic journey through snow covered volcanoes, historic villages, beautiful lakes, beaches, and more. Whether you're familiar with Chile's spectacular natural beauty, or just discovering it, this book is a must see.
"When I visited Chile for the first time, the abundance of beauty I encountered truly amazed me. During that time, I kept thinking to myself why I hadn’t heard more travel stories over the years about a place that was this gorgeous. Exploring Chile for the first time felt like a true discovery, the feeling one imagines when finding hidden treasure."

Well I passed my test today and today is the best my body has felt since being here. All those places that were sore are not sore anymore. I think you are right Tan, my soreness was part of the healing process because I also was having odd sensations like a hot spot on my wrist and also near my groin where they pause the blood flow down the leg. Lastnight my whole body felt really warm. I took a cold shower turned the fan on high and relaxed early. I will eat pinapple, but my favorite is mango. I am going to look into some tutilage from Mama Lek next week. I feel I have the whole routine down pretty good (I need to pracice lots still) so I don't know that I want to learn the next level until I really work with what I got. There is only one other level in the Wat Po style besides the feet. Tonight I am going to go to the Night Bazaar do some serious shopping and get my feet done see how it is. It feels good to be better. I was scared lastnight that I might have dange fever, this is some virus from misquito that there is no vaccine or treatment. It makes you really sick and sore all over. A guy in the bookstore lastnight said 2 of his friends got it and they were really bad off.
