How is it going eh The last few years at this time I was I thia. It is truely a fantastic place to visit with such a wide variety of cultures and food to explore. I would recommend upon your arrival in Bangkok to stay at the grand president. It has all the north amrerican eminities and is close to the action. Make sure that you visit Nana Plaza, soi cowboy and patpong. It is best to befiend a thia lady to help you get around and communicate as that can be a problem. Be prepared for a culture that sexuality is very different than ours. I could go on for hours. The north of this offers some very challenging trecks into the mountians that is truly breath taking and you get to really meet the thia people and get a sense fo thier culture. to the east and the south you have some of the most beautiful islands in the world. kho chang , kho phangan, kho samui are all very beautiful places to visit. If you are thier on a full moom you have to check out the full moom party on Kho Phangan. If anyone has a specific questions drop a line.

Dress properly when entering a Buddhist temple. Mini skirts and shorts are not allowed. Take your shoes off before going inside the hall of worship. Ladies must not on any account touch a Buddhist monk, give things direct to him or receive things direct from him.

Foreign visitors may freely bring in foreign currencies or other types of foreign exchange. Cheque or drafts brought in must be sold to a bank within 15 days of arrival. Upon leaving Thailand, they may freely take out all foreign exchange they have brought in. For residents, unlimited amounts of foreign notes and coins may be taken out for travelling expenses. The amount of draft or Cheque is subject to the approval of the issuing bank.

Foreign visitors may bring in and unlimited amount for Thai currency. For travelers leaving Thailand, both Thais and foreign, the maximum amount permitted to take out without prior authorization is 50,000 Baht per person or, of they are going to one of Thailand’s neighboring countries, 500,000 Baht per person.

Nationals from 56 countries can now stay in Thailand for up to 30 days with our an entry visa, according to a new regulation adopted by the Immigration Division in early February 1995. Suggested Thailand Travel Guides

The Insight Pocket Guide series of books is my favorite for short stays at any destination. The book highlights the must see destinations in full day and half day itineraries. This includes detailed maps and suggested walking routes. This Thailand guide is a must have especially for a short visit. Insight also published individual guides for Chiang Mai and Phuket but they're currently out of print.

As with most Lonely Planet guides, this Thialand edition is an invaluable resource for planning your journey. It offers you the most up-to-date information about where to go and where to aviod, how to get there and get around, where to stay at a reasonable rate. The guide provides everything you'll need to know for a rewarding visit.
