Companies Restrict Travel As Leisure Bookings Slide

The slowdown in travel at Medtronic and other firms, caused by the volatile economy and the war, has begun spreading throughout the travel industry. Travel agency bookings, both for leisure and business, have decreased dramatically at some agencies.

The war wasn't a direct cause of Medtronic's new travel policies, but it was a factor as the company conducted a normal review of corporate travel procedures, Hanvik said. "It was done as a way to slow down the travel-booking process and ensure it's essential business."

Whether for safety or fiscal restraint, other large metro-area companies have put similar policies in place this spring. The St. Paul Cos. Inc. and Little Canada-based St. Jude Medical Inc., for example, are monitoring world events, limiting international travel to essential trips and respecting the feelings of anxious employees.

Woo hoo! Alrighty then. It is now 9:00pm PST, which means all Blogiversary III contests are now closed for entries. Many thanks to everybody who entered this week, and thanks again for helping to make this blogiversary celebration the best yet!

Well, since I strive for fairness in the drawings, I won't be doing anything except printing out a complete list of everybody who entered each contest and handing it over to an impartial third party to pick the names out of a hat. I'll then record each name and work up a winner's list that will be posted tomorrow afternoon.

I Made It

I suppose I left you hanging a bit on that last post, so let me bring you up to speed. After the 4 hour Minneapolis layover, I flew home to Nashville. I don't really sleep well on planes or in airports, so I had only slept about 30 minutes in between the Seattle concert and home. Needless to say, I was deliriously tired. I knew it was bad when I went to the grocery store last night and couldn't find the cereal aisle. I mean, come on! The cereal aisle! The colors, the children, the hubbub. You can't miss it! Well, I did. OK, so I eventually found it. And the Cookie Crisp hit the spot...
