When my mom and 2 sisters went to Canada 2 summers ago, my sister and I made these signs that had our friends’ names on them and read “We miss you, Ashten!” Then we went around the streets near Niagra Falls and took pictures of random people holding the signs and sent them to our friends to show them we miss them. I would love to do it again only on a road trip with signs that say “Memphis misses you, Lauren!” or “New York loves you, Jack!” to show our friends we miss them and all the places we ended up.

Believe it or not all four things in the title happened in one week in Ecuador, and at no point was I in any real danger. I found this the best week of ,y whole time in Ecuador, though not of the whole trip. I started with 300 pounds and a single ticket to Venezuela, and came back 9 months later having seen Some of South America and every US state except Hawaii and Alaska; I was sorry to have missed Alaska as I felt I had been close enough to make it. The important thing seems to me to assess the risks and to maximise perceived risk while minimising actual risk. It laeds to more interesting memories while keeping you whome to remember them. Where possible get a native guide. While this does massively increase your safety that is not the reason. If you do not meet and get on with the people who live there, then why bother going?

Actually, yes, I was born and raised in Mansfield. The Greyhound station is in a better location than previously. I'd say at 5am the drunks are usually passed out and the muggers are finally home sleeping. Still want to be careful though.

Yes, I've traveled from Cleveland to Florida by Greyhound and I noticed that many of the smaller towns did not have 24hr. bus stations. Many were small, office type buildings that operated during regular business hours. I would be scared to death to have my bus connect at 3am in a desolate part of town. Thanks goodness for big cities and modern convenience!
