Very high quality, fully self-contained, trailer throughout. Scamp (Bacus, MN) sells only direct and they have a good reputation for customer satisfaction. One thing that impressed us (and see below) was the fact that the total shell is made of fiberglass, not conventionally "stick built" as are most other travel trailers. Looking at used Scamps and several other fiberglass brands, we noticed that they age better than conventionally-built trailers. Consequently they hold resale value much better for many, many years. Also they're tough to find on the resale market--owners simply keep using them for years.

Scamp offers lots of options. Caution, they can run up your price out the door and also dramatically increase the tow weight. Various sleeping options, up to 4, nice little frigs, a/c's, furnaces, full baths w/showers similar to those found on small boats. Storage area is cramped to say the least. You really have to watch your water use, because of the small holding tanks. The larger fresh water tank and larger battery are two options to definitely consider. These trailers are for weekends to a few weeks of camping. If you consider full timing, you'd better be a single--or you'll soon be single!

Having said all that, we opted to buy a 17' Casita trailer, which is quite similar, but offered us a little more room, roomier bath, a little less "retro" interior than the Scamp, higher ceiling. Most of the deluxe Scamp's options are standard on the deluxe Casita at about the same price. The Casita (Rice, TX) is a "distant cousin" company of the Scamp. Similar, perhaps even better, lifetime customer service.
